The Snowman trek in Bhutan extends the Laya Gasa trek, spanning 24 challenging days. Renowned as one of the top 10 toughest treks globally, it commences in Paro and concludes near Trongsa at Nikachu. Covering a staggering distance of 348 km on foot, it reaches its zenith at 5320 m.
This demanding route winds through diverse landscapes, from yak herders’ camps at 3980 m to the grazing grounds of Blue Sheep, remote villages like Laya and Thanza, and across numerous daunting passes such as Nyeli La (4890 m), Jhari La (4747 m), Shingela (5005 m), and Jaze La (5050 m). Campsites are nestled near scenic wonders like Tsho Chena Lake (4800 m) and Thampe Tsho (4200 m), offering breathtaking views of Mt. Jomolhari (7314 m), Masagang (7165 m), Table Mountain (7100 m), and Gangla Karchung (6395 m).

Ranked among the top 10 most challenging treks globally, the Snowman trek in Bhutan spans a duration of 24 days, offering a highly challenging adventure. With a difficulty level classified as “very difficult,” this trek reaches its highest elevation at 5320 m. The best times to embark on this journey are from March to May and September to November.
Highlights of the Snowman trek in Bhutan include traversing scenic landscapes, encountering the remote inhabitants of the Himalayas, exploring traditional Bhutanese villages and farmhouses, visiting historic dzongs (forts), ancient temples, and monasteries, as well as witnessing traditional archery matches.
Snowman Trek Cost:
The following costs cover the trek and include the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of US $ 100 per person per night, along with the Bhutan visa fee of US $ 40 per person. Please note that entrance fees for monuments and festival visits are to be paid separately.
For groups of 2 people, the cost is US $ 10740 per person, while for groups of 3 people and above, the cost is US $ 9950 per person.

Day 5. Rest day in Jangothang – Acclimatization for Snowman trek. Day 6. Jangothang to Lingshi | 17 km | Altitude: 4000 m | Hike: 6 – 7 hours.
Day 7. Lingshi to Chebisa | 10 km | Altitude: 3880 m | Hike: 5 – 6 hours | Ascent: 280 m | Descent: 410 m.
Day 8. Chebisa to Shomuthang | 17 km | Altitude: 4220 m | Hike: 6-7 hours | Ascent: 890 m | Descent: 540 m.
