Day 1: Arrive in Paro and drive to Thimphu
Welcome to Bhutan and congratulations on your wedding! Upon arrival at Paro International Airport (2,300m), your guide will drive you to Thimphu (2,400m), Bhutan’s capital. En route, visit Tachogang Lhakhang (Temple of The Excellent Horse), a serene temple built by Thangtong Gyalpo. Enjoy the peaceful ambiance and mountain views before continuing to Thimphu. Check-in at your hotel, where a specially decorated room awaits. Later, visit the National Memorial Chorten, built for peace and prosperity, and Buddha Point (Buddha Dordenma), the tallest statue in Bhutan. Explore the dynamic evening bazaars and stores in Thimphu before retiring for the night.
Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing
Begin your day with a visit to Cheri Goemba, the first monastery in Bhutan, accessible via a short hike through a pine forest. Next, explore the Folk Heritage Museum, a restored 19th-century rural house, and the National Textile Museum, showcasing Bhutanese weaving skills. Visit the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, where students learn traditional Bhutanese arts, and Tashichho Dzong, an impressive fortress that houses government offices. Enjoy free time in the evening to explore Thimphu before staying overnight at your hotel.
Day 3: Thimphu to Gangtey

Distance: 160km
Estimated travel time: 6 hours
Travel to Gangtey, passing through the scenic Dochula Pass, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas and 108 chortens. After a 5-hour drive, arrive in Gangtey valley and visit Gangtey Goemba, a 17th-century monastery with stunning valley views. Check into your hotel and relax after the day’s journey.
Day 4: Gangtey to Punakha
Altitude in Punakha: 1,300m
Distance: 87km
Estimated travel time: 3 hours
Start the day with a walk along the Gangtey Nature Trail, through meadows and pine forests. Enjoy tea with a view at the trail’s end near Khewang Lhakhang. On the way to Punakha, stop at Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility), known for blessings of fertility. Check into your hotel in Punakha for the night.
Day 5: Punakha Sightseeing
Visit the Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang Nunnery, overlooking the Punakha valley, and Punakha Dzong, an architectural marvel at the confluence of the Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu rivers. Walk across the 160m-long Pho Chhu suspension bridge and end the day at Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, a unique structure built for the wellbeing of Bhutan. Enjoy exploring Punakha’s night vibe before staying overnight at your hotel.
Day 6: Punakha to Paro
Distance: 125km
Estimated travel time: 4 hours
Travel to Paro and visit Paro Rinpung Dzong (Fortress of The Heap of Jewels) and the National Museum of Bhutan (Ta Dzong). Hike to Zuri Dzong, a 12th-century fortress offering panoramic views of Paro valley. Explore Paro town in the evening, known for its vibrant nightlife and dining options. Overnight at your hotel in Paro.
Day 7: Paro Sightseeing
Hike to Taktsang Lhakhang (Tiger’s Nest), Bhutan’s most sacred site, for stunning views and a memorable experience. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, and end the day with a traditional hot stone bath at a farmhouse. Enjoy a special dinner with a local family, learning about Bhutanese cuisine and culture. Overnight at your hotel in Paro.
Day 8: Depart Paro
